3 for 3DO

April 29, 1994 Fall River, MA. PiM Publications, Inc. announced 3, a publication created exclusively for the 3DO market.3 will cover the entire 3DO experience from games to movies. 3 s responsibility will be to inform its readers of the wide variety of 3DO excitement available today as well as to alert them of the new possibilities available in the future.

According to Don Hicks, PiM Vice President and 3 Publisher, Our aim at PiM Publications Inc. is to always provide the reader with more. We will not only explore the current best-selling games (with tips, tricks, etc.), but we will also search out the interesting smaller software titles. 3DO has the potential to be a platform that can be used for entertainment, sports, education, relaxation, production (such as video), and more. A magazine dedicated to this platform must be able to recognize the different opportunities for 3DO and support the efforts in those areas. It must grow as the market grows.

Mr. Hicks went on to state, 3DO is more than a game machine. It is a multimedia platform designed to provide a large level of freedom to its software designers. Through reviews, interviews, and news items, 3 will keep 3DO developers in the public eye. 3 will serve as a voice and, with any luck, an inspiration for their efforts.

At the same time,3 must also be a communication tool for the 3DO user as well. 3 should be a forum that allows enthusiasts to express their views and desires for the system. This important two-way communication will be a valuable asset to the entire 3DO community.

Although 3s publication schedule is in development, PiM officials stated that the premiere issue of 3 could be on the newsstands as early as mid-June. We feel it is important to the 3DO community to bring 3 to the public as soon as possible. 3DO is an exciting and rapidly changing environment and 3 wants to help define and present that market to the consumer as 3DO continues to grow.

PiM Publications noted that 3 is an independent publication which is not affiliated or connected in any way with The 3DO Company. PiM has produced computer magazines and support periodicals for the computer industry for over eight years. They are best noted for Amazing Computing For The Commodore Amiga as well as ACs TECH for the Amiga and ACs GUIDE to the Amiga. Amazing Computing was the first monthly magazine for the Amiga market (first issue January, 1986) and remains in production today with a solid following of loyal readers.
